Improvements to wow-armory plugin + Linkbacks + Styles

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I’ve made some improvements to the wow-armory plugin:

Talents: You can now display your talent build. This option can be disabled per widget. You will see a link to your Talent in the Armory, displayed as “X / Y / Z”, where X, Y, and Z are the points spent in your First, second and third tree respectively. I’m not sure if the Armory will change to show your Dual-specs after patch 3.1, but I can change this if it does. Also, you’ll see the icon for your spec – if you have more talents in “Beast Mastery”, for example, you’ll see that icon.

Linkbacks: I have added an option to display a link back to my site. I debated for awhile how I can help get the word out on my addons, and this was, I believe, the best solution. This is completely optional, and it should default to “No”, so no one will show any links unless they choose to enable the option. Both the wow-armory and wow-guild plugin have this feature. You can turn on the linkbacks on a per-widget basis, or within shortcodes using linkback="1"

The link looks like this: powered_by

Shortcodes: You can use the shortcode:

Character portrait
of -US or EU
Level

You must have at least the char, realm, and realmtype specified.

On Hold

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Thanks to the sudden, surprise explosion of my computer at work, many of my projects are on hold until I can get things back into working order again. Notably, my wow-guild WP Plugin, which has been started, but is not yet ready for release, will probably be pushed back another week or two.
A certain other project of which I cannot speak is also on hold for a day or two, but this project will take precedence over the others. More details as they become available.

Spored

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

2364860198_4f98527f1bWhen i first learned of Mr Wright’s ambitious project, a few years ago in a blurry, Google video (before they bought YouTube), I was understandably excited.

Years later, Spore was released, and just the other day, I was able to finally pick it up and start playing.

I started up a new game, made my little carnivorous organism, and ate my way through to the top of the food chain. I enjoyed most every part of the game, and I’m still playing through the Space Age, and starting an occasional new creature now and again.

TrinkerI thought it would be interesting to break down some items of this game that I like, and those I don’t like. Since this is *meant* to be a Blog about Worldcrafting and Game Design, it might be useful. At the very least, it’ll be fun, and give me an excuse to show off some of my creations :)

Of Failed Experiments and Art.

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

It’s no surprise by now, to anyone who’s read my posts before, that I suffer from some type of syndrome that prevents me from actually finishing anything I start on… and that the same syndrome also blinds me to this fact once I jump on board with a new idea or project.

Awhile back… I think it was December ‘07, I conceived a project that would be a complex, browser-based RPG, akin to Kingdom of Loathing, but different.  I managed to coerce Louisa into doing a lot of the artwork for the game, and a lot of the illustrations came out looking very, very nice.  Since the project has pretty much collapsed, and I have no current hopes of continuing it, I didn’t want the art to be forgotten, so, I’m posting everything here to show it off!  Enjoy!

Open Archive Community Bestiary

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

I’ve been a bit busy lately.  Over on his blog, I found out about a project that Asmor was starting for a Community Bestiary for D&D 4E.  At first, I was moderately interested, but as more information and pieces of the project began popping up, I realized that I could really help out.  So I started taking over the wiki, and making a whole ton of changes.  I set up a Template for the Monster Stat block, and I’ve begun work on a few other things as well.  It’s kind of exciting – a project that I can be a part of that isn’t overloaded with other people, and which looks like it will actually go somewhere.

Please head over to the Wiki and the Forums for the OA: Wiki; Forum

There’s lots of stuff that still needs to get worked on, adn we haven’t even really started posting monsters… we’re still in the setup and planning mode right now.  Should you want to help, pop in and say ‘hi’, and just look for what needs doing.

Update, Part 2

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Well, taking my last post into consideration, I decided to do some major housekeeping around here.

I removed all posts pertaining to the TARGEngine, and removed several other posts that were no longer relevant to anything, or were just me whining about whatever.  All told, I ended up disabling 45 posts.  I also spent a great deal of time reorganizing my categories.  I think there’s still a lot of work left to do to make them really work the way I would like, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Update

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

So, here we are at my new host. So far everything seems to be working nicely, although there are a few items that I’ve removed for simplicity. I thought I might take this time to kind of readdress this site and see where I should go.
