Statuses

I’ve been working on a few things lately, but nothing that’s finished yet.

  • Working on several work-related projects, which have been keeping me busy.
  • Working on the wow-armory plugin a little, getting it ready for a new release.
  • Trying to work on a new version of the wow-guild plugin, but I haven’t had much time to look at it.
  • Trying to work on a variety of writing projects, but these always seem to fall by the wayside.
  • Working on a board game concept which will hopefully become a reality some time in the future.

So, things have been pretty crazy… I want to finish up the D&D Adventure special and get it all the way posted, so I’ll try to post another installment tomorrow. I also want to get back to posting Monday Monsters, but I haven’t come up with any good ones lately…

Finally, the contest is still going on, but I only have one entry so far… please comment by June 8th for your chance to win one of the (small) prizes…

Updates + the future

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

First, as much as I would like to revamp my whole site, it is more and more evident that it’s not going to be possible to do so right now – I simply do not have the time or energy to pull it off, and there are many other things I would like to do that take less time to implement. That being said, I have updated to the latest version of iNove, and have made a few changes to customize things… unfortunately, some of the JavaScript in the theme has stopped working, but I’m working on a solution.

I’ve received a few different suggestions and requests for changes to the wow-guild plugin. I’m working on a major version update to the plugin, and I will be taking these suggestions into account. If you have anything you would like to see added to either plugin, please let me know. I plan to add an option to filter out characters below a certain rank, and, if possible, grab more info about each individual character.

As always, I keep thinking of ideas of things that I would like to work on… (more…)

I miss playing D&D.

I used to play with a group of people, not long after I graduated from High School. We would meet and play for a couple of hours, maybe once or twice a month. It was great fun, since our DM was very good, and enjoyed pulling strange by awesome things on the party.

Spored

2364860198_4f98527f1bWhen i first learned of Mr Wright’s ambitious project, a few years ago in a blurry, Google video (before they bought YouTube), I was understandably excited.

Years later, Spore was released, and just the other day, I was able to finally pick it up and start playing.

I started up a new game, made my little carnivorous organism, and ate my way through to the top of the food chain. I enjoyed most every part of the game, and I’m still playing through the Space Age, and starting an occasional new creature now and again.

TrinkerI thought it would be interesting to break down some items of this game that I like, and those I don’t like. Since this is *meant* to be a Blog about Worldcrafting and Game Design, it might be useful. At the very least, it’ll be fun, and give me an excuse to show off some of my creations :)

Note to Self: Read the Manual!

Friday, December 5th, 2008

We bought a condo a few months ago (8, I think), and in the process of moving, my motherboard fried and died, so I had to buy a new motherboard.

I picked one that seemed decent, and I also got a processor that was better than the one I had.

Now, I’m not very knowledgeable about hardware, so I followed the instructions for setting up my motherboard, and plugged everything in including the video card I’d been using with my other motherboard.  Powered up the computer, and nothing showed up on the screen.  After several hours of wrestling with everything, I figured that my video card had also been fried by whatever killed my old motherboard.  I took it off, and was able to get the on-board video card to display with no problems.  So, since April, I’ve been using the much less powerful on-board card for everything, including playing WoW.

Of Failed Experiments and Art.

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

It’s no surprise by now, to anyone who’s read my posts before, that I suffer from some type of syndrome that prevents me from actually finishing anything I start on… and that the same syndrome also blinds me to this fact once I jump on board with a new idea or project.

Awhile back… I think it was December ‘07, I conceived a project that would be a complex, browser-based RPG, akin to Kingdom of Loathing, but different.  I managed to coerce Louisa into doing a lot of the artwork for the game, and a lot of the illustrations came out looking very, very nice.  Since the project has pretty much collapsed, and I have no current hopes of continuing it, I didn’t want the art to be forgotten, so, I’m posting everything here to show it off!  Enjoy!

I thought it could never happen…

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

After months of depressing, defeated resignation, after having my hopes and ignorant naivete repeatedly dashed to small pieces, that which I thought had been impossible and would never – could never – happen, surprisingly, shockingly, unbelievably congealed into an event that even now I can hardly think of as anything other than I dream…

I believed that I was undesirable.  I believed that I was unprepared.  I believed that I was unskilled.  I believed that I was an outcast, to be shunned, to be laughed at, teased, scorned, hated, and pitied.  Apparently all of these things were untrue – or at the very least, obstacles that could be overcome in the right situations.  A dream that was nothing more than a fading glimmer of hope came true, and I am still in awe.

Am I being obscure enough for you yet?  Keeping the suspense up?  What am I going on and on about?

I’m talking about the one, the only, the singular, individual, potent and powerful:
