‘Slightly’ Busy

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

The last few days at work have been… for lack of a better term, wearing.

In order to provide our clients with a way to make informed, intelligent decisions, I had to spend all day, every day, for the last 5 days doing nothing but printing out statements, using slightly different criteria, and compiling a list of how it works.

So I haven’t had a chance to do much else.

Now that the task is finally finished, I can think about other things (I hope).

The PbP Campaign is slowly solidifying.  I actually have a few of the characters ready to go.  Unfortunately, we seem to be back down to just 3 players, so I’m looking for 1 or 2 more.  I only know of two people who might be interested, but one of them has been even more busy than me lately, and the other does not really have any interest in 4E… so it leaves me in a bit of a spot.  Well, hopefully it can be resolved before too long.

Patch 3.0.2 hits today, and it’s being downloaded at home right now.  Hopefully, when I get home tonight, I’ll be able to go out and tame a new, awesome, exotic pet.  As well as start collecting achievements.  Sweet.

D&D Adventure Update: Background and Synopsis

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Well, I haven’t had much time to work on it (or anything, really)… work has been superchaoticness, and I’ve been working on finalizing Louisa’s Portfolio Site.  But, despite all that, I spent a little bit of time today getting my Background and Synopsis written up for the Adventure.  Now, this is a first, rough draft… I’m having trouble figuring out the exact formula to use for the Background and the Synopsis… I’m more anxious to get to the meat of the adventure, so I don’t really know how to write it out.  I have a ton more than this written up, I just haven’t reached a point where I would like to share it, just yet.  Anyway, here’s the Background and the Synopsis to show where I’m planning to go with it.  As always, comments, suggestions and support are always appreciated.

Background

The town of Heartwood is a quiet, peaceful community, tucked between the Serpent River, the Blue River, and the Thunderhill Mountains.  Although the town is in an ideal spot for trade – sitting at the hub of two trade routes in conjunction with the two rivers – it is relatively far enough away from the major cities and nations that it is able to avoid many of violent wars and disputes over the years.  The people of Heartwood have been very lucky to live in such peace.  However, their peace may be short-lived.  Whispered rumors have been spreading around town, over the last few months, regarding sinister goings on in the abandoned Thundercrown Castle – a fortified stronghold constructed near the top of the Thunderhill Mountains, overlooking the town and the well-traveled mountain pass since time forgotten.  During the reassuring light of day, the townsfolk scoff at such tales, once the sun goes down, the people tend to stay behind locked doors.

(Note: If you’re intending to play in my PbP Campaign, I wouldn’t read the rest… there’s still 3 slots open!)

Campaigning

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

In planning for my upcoming PbP Campaign, I’ve started writing up the Adventure that I want to use for the Campaign.  It’s turning out much better than I had planned (maybe I have a knack for this ‘writing thing’ afterall ;) ).  So, I’m wondering how I can refine my adventure, once it’s finished, to be viable for other people to use?

PbP D&D Forum Launches

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

I went ahead and started a forum for PbP RPGs (mostly D&D, I’d imagine, but we’ll see).

I’m planning to start up a campaign soon in order to test everything out.  If you’re interested in playing, head on over and register!

D&D Stuff

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I had been trying to run a D&D campaign for many months now (actually, probably close to 2 years), and over the last couple of months, the game has sort of grown stagnant, and dried up – because everyone always has stuff going on, and life is too busy, mostly.  I’ve been trying to get the game back on track, but it’s been very difficult to do – whenever one person is able to make it, someone else can’t, and vice-versa.  Since it’s a small group of players (just 3 players, plus me, the DM, and one of the players lives with me), we can’t really play if one of the people can’t make it, so I’ve been feeling more and more like we just weren’t going to be able to finish up the campaign.

Magics.

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

I finished reading The Last Guardian last night – I flew through the book in a matter of hours, possibly because I happen to be a fan of Jeff Grubb… and it might be because of another arguably insane magic user he wrote about…
