Improvements to wow-armory plugin + Linkbacks + Styles

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I’ve made some improvements to the wow-armory plugin:

Talents: You can now display your talent build. This option can be disabled per widget. You will see a link to your Talent in the Armory, displayed as “X / Y / Z”, where X, Y, and Z are the points spent in your First, second and third tree respectively. I’m not sure if the Armory will change to show your Dual-specs after patch 3.1, but I can change this if it does. Also, you’ll see the icon for your spec – if you have more talents in “Beast Mastery”, for example, you’ll see that icon.

Linkbacks: I have added an option to display a link back to my site. I debated for awhile how I can help get the word out on my addons, and this was, I believe, the best solution. This is completely optional, and it should default to “No”, so no one will show any links unless they choose to enable the option. Both the wow-armory and wow-guild plugin have this feature. You can turn on the linkbacks on a per-widget basis, or within shortcodes using linkback="1"

The link looks like this: powered_by

Shortcodes: You can use the shortcode:

Character portrait
of -US or EU
Level

You must have at least the char, realm, and realmtype specified.

All for naught (but that’s okay)

I just found out that Blizzard has finally updated the Armory to include Achievements!!!

That means that my Achievement page is pretty useless at this point… oh well, the Armory gets automatically updated, so I don’t mind.

Check out Vaire’s Achievements!

‘Slightly’ Busy

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

The last few days at work have been… for lack of a better term, wearing.

In order to provide our clients with a way to make informed, intelligent decisions, I had to spend all day, every day, for the last 5 days doing nothing but printing out statements, using slightly different criteria, and compiling a list of how it works.

So I haven’t had a chance to do much else.

Now that the task is finally finished, I can think about other things (I hope).

The PbP Campaign is slowly solidifying.  I actually have a few of the characters ready to go.  Unfortunately, we seem to be back down to just 3 players, so I’m looking for 1 or 2 more.  I only know of two people who might be interested, but one of them has been even more busy than me lately, and the other does not really have any interest in 4E… so it leaves me in a bit of a spot.  Well, hopefully it can be resolved before too long.

Patch 3.0.2 hits today, and it’s being downloaded at home right now.  Hopefully, when I get home tonight, I’ll be able to go out and tame a new, awesome, exotic pet.  As well as start collecting achievements.  Sweet.

Dined and Boozed.

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Azeroth has spent the last 2 weeks celebrating Brewfest – a holiday eerily similar to German Oktoberfest, only with more Dwarves.

There were major changes from last year, and Louisa and I really wanted to get into it.  Last year, we were able the finish up the festivities with a cool mount, which we’ve been using ever since.  This year, they added a new mount: the Great Brewfest Kodo. The first, and currently only Kodo mount that can be owned and used by an Alliance player. The only caveat was that this year, unlike the ram, this mount can’t be bought by doing the simple, fun Brewfest quests and turning in tickets – it only drops from the new, level 73 Elite Boss, Coren Direbrew.

Now, Mr Direbrew hangs out inside the instance known as Blackrock Depths, or BRD for short.  He’s hiding out in the back room of the Grim Guzzler tavern (in the center of the instance), plotting and recruiting people to go crash Brewfest for him to wreak havoc.  It takes a party of 5 level 70s to take him down, and then the mount only has a tiny chance to drop – something like 0.1%.
